Prague's river side
The river is back! Prague is reclaiming Vltava with a renovated river side (in Czech Náplavka). A place very popular by locals is worth of visiting also because of their photogenic modern architecture.
Take a look on Honest Guide video about the most popular Rašín Embankment - or take a look on events on the less crowded Hořejší Embankment.
Visit Prague's river Rašín Embankment on Saturday for the popular Farmers' Market
The Embankment has some spectacular views to offer.

One day in Prague only? Here is what you shouldn't miss
I stumbled upon a nice blog post on what to see in Prague if you have only one day.
As all other suggestions on this page, I do not get any commissions - but I think this is a nice summary of the must-see in the historic city center. Take a look by clicking on the image below!

Tips from the Prague Tourism: walks, cafes, day trips
Are you looking for trustworthy and updated tips for Prague? I am very happy to recommend the official webpage of Prague city tourism. They are doing lately a great job showing interesting walks, cafes or day-trips.
Do you know what means PIS? It was Prazska informacni sluzba, "Prague information service" standing for the former unlucky name of the official tourism office of Prague. Luckily, they went through rebranding, renaming and - recreating their content. And now it is pretty great!
Furthermore, I like more "Insiders like" walks around Prague quarters. A walk around Vinohrady and Albertov which I posted on this blog in 2011 - is combining two city tourism tours of Vinohrady and Vysehrad. I like their brochures for those tours a lot! If any link stops working , check their website or go to their office in the Old Town Hall.

Cafes & walks
For example I like how they categorize cafes of Prague into historical, atmospheric and hipster/3rd wave. I provided links of best cafes before on this blog, yet this categorization can be very helpful. Of course, there are other specialized websites with less know cafes, for example this one from Czech Design on summer cafes with shady gardens (Google Translated).Furthermore, I like more "Insiders like" walks around Prague quarters. Art & Day-trips
Their overview of design/art places and shops is quite handy too. Among the day-trips from Prague which I would like to do, is my favourite the visit of the Rückl Glassworks, where is produced the finest modern Bohemian crystal. They have also a great shop near the Old Town Square which is for sure worth of visiting.![]() |

An alternative to the Royal Route
The Royal Route is one of the most crowded routes in Prague. You will rather experience crowds of tourists and cheap souvenir shops than a magical feeling of a former coronation route of Czech kings.
Yet my friend tried to find an alternative - which will show you Prague much less crowded and much more authentic.
It starts at the Old Town square and it brings you to the Charles Bridge - yet it follows a different path as the map below illustrates. Let me know how did you like it!

Prague's centre basics + extended insider's tips
My friend went to Prague for the first time – they had a hotel at the center near the Wenceslas Square (Václavské náměstí) and he had a question:
„Is there any restaurant or bar or club which is a MUST TO SEE ( like an insider) ?“
Since I am not a bar or club expert I wrote about Prague's centre basics to give him a basic orientation. Also tips where to eat, the best of my knowledge about bars and clubs, tips about art (which I am much more informed about) and also a tip for the MUST-HAVE cake.
Note: I am updating and extending this article to reply also to other friends' questions.
